
Monday, 19 August 2019 is the official back to school day in the Dominican Republic. President Danilo Medina is scheduled to be at the Eustacia Marte de Fernández public school in Santiago city for the occasion.
As reported, in elementary, there are 900,000 students registered in the public school system and another 750,000 in public high schools. There are 270,000 registered in elementary and high school adult studies programs. Also, 650,000 students are enrolled in private schools nationwide.
The government reports that 1.3 million students are registered in the public extended school program. The program encompasses 7,823 public schools.
