More solar power for the national grid

The Dominican Republic’s National Energy Commission (CNE) says that before the year is over, a 50-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park will be in operation. As reported, the Washington Capital Solar Park has cost about US$75 million. US utility Dominion Energy Inc. is in charge of the construction in Mata de Palma, Guerra in Santo Domingo province.

When fully operational, Washington Capital is expected to generate around 110 GWh per year with its 201,000 solar panels over a 30-year life span.
