
Presidential pre-candidate Francisco Domínguez is confident he will be the winning candidate in the polls underway this week. The politicians Domínguez Brito, Andrés Navarro, Temístocles Montás, Radhamés Segura, Maritza Hernandez and Gonzalo Castillo are competing to receive the favor of President Danilo Medina in the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
The aspirants to the PLD candidacy had agreed to let polls determine who would be the best candidate to compete in the 6 October 2019 primary against leading politicians, former President Leonel Fernandez, Melanio Paredes and Manuel Crespo.
The companies carrying out the polls are Greenberg, Gallup, Emevenca and Stella León. Preliminary surveys show the stronger contenders are Francisco Domínguez Brito, Gonzalo Castillo and Andrés Navarro.
The polls were held 2, 3 and 4 September 2019 in time for the 6 October 2019 primary. The results should be known by Sunday, or Monday, 8-9 September.
