President Danilo Medina was present on Friday, 13 September 2019 for the inauguration of the Polytechnic ITLA, with 34 classrooms and capacity to accommodate 910 students. The school was built by the Office of Engineers Supervisors of State Works (OISOE) in eastern Santo Domingo at the cost of over RD$80.9 million.
The high school will accommodate students from the Liceo Guaricano Primero and students from elementary schools Santa Lucia, Maria Caro and Estados Unidos in the Boca Chica area. Graduates can continue their education at the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA).
