On the morning of Monday, 16 September 2019, a 4.2 Richter Scale earthquake was felt in Cabrera and Nagua in the northeastern María Trinidad Sánchez province. Smaller replicas followed it. There have been no reports of any damage.
According to the National Seismological Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the earthquake happened at 2:53am, to the southeast of Cabrera at a depth of 16.5 kilometers.
