The II National University Sports Games in the current management of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) will be held Thursday, 19 September through Sunday the 29th. The competitions will take place at venues in Santo Domingo, at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the Parque del Este, the Santo Domingo Autonomous University (UASD), the National Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU), and at the facilities at the Instituto de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU). More than 2,000 athletes from 29 universities will compete in 14 sports, announced Sports Minister Danilo Diaz.
The National University Sports Commission, chaired by Deputy Minister of Sports Marcos Diaz, is the organizer of the games. University athletes will compete in chess, athletics, basketball, baseball, indoor soccer, judo, karate, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball and bowling.
