
On Tuesday 24 September 2019, several international flights bound for Haiti had to land at Dominican airports following a fire at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. American Airlines flights, Air Century and Sunrise flights to Haiti were diverted to Las Americas and La Isabela international airports in Greater Santo Domingo.
According to preliminary information, a short circuit caused the fire that began in a duty-free perfume shop in the arrivals’ terminal. Operations are expected to resume on Wednesday, 25 September.
