The director of the largest hospital in the North Coast, the Ricardo Limardo Hospital in Puerto Plata, has announced the 100% expansion of the dialysis unit. There are now 35 machines, up from 17.
Dr. Edwin Lopez stated that most patients use the units two or three times a week. He stressed that the expansion of the dialysis unit to 35 machines is to serve better the current patient load of 141 persons undergoing the life-saving process each week.
