Roberto Salcedo says he leads in PLD senate race

Former three-term Mayor of the National District Roberto Salcedo is confident he will be chosen the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) candidate for the National District during the 6 October 2019 primary. He is running against Rafael Paz, who is the director of the National Competitiveness Council (CNC); José Manuel Peguero, a former National District attorney; Guarocuya Felix, the director of the National Export Bank (Bandex); and Elic Fernández, a Dominican ambassador.

A recent Sigma Dos poll says that Salcedo will obtain 49.8% of eligible voters in the 6 October 2019 primary. It says 12% will vote for Paz, 8.4% for Peguero, 5.5% for Félix, and 3.1% for Fernández.

The poll also revealed that of National District eligible voters, 54.8% will vote in the open primaries of the PLD compared to 36.1% in the closed primaries of the PRM.

The poll was carried out in the National District from 23-26 September 2019 with a sample of 900 surveys and a margin of error of +-3,3%.
