The 8th International Poetry Week (VIII Semana Internacional de la Poesía) is taking place 20 October through 27 October 2019. It is dedicated this time to the Generation of ’48 and its poets Carmen Natalia, Juan Sánchez Lamouth and Ramón Francisco.
A vast program of activities are programmed for schools, universities, cultural centers, public squares, parks and cities of the interior. Guest poets from Mexico, Spain, Peru, China, Argentina, Chile, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Honduras, United States and France are on the program, joining over 50 local poets.
Tributes will be paid to figures of letters such as Walt Whitman, on the 200 years of his birth; Jorge Luis Borges, for celebrating 120 years of his birth and Roberto Fernández Retamar, on his death anniversary, among others.
