Masked gunmen assaulted the offices of the Dominican Watchman company at Plaza Turisol during the very early hours of Thursday, 17 October 2019. According to sources, three masked, helmeted and well-armed men took over the office and made off with five 9 mm pistols that the company used for its armed guards, along with what was widely rumored to be some RD$9 million in cash. The company said the cash was insured.
Dominican Watchman has been offering services ranging from internal courier for mail and documents to bank deposits and protective services. Both the National Police as well as the company authorities are investigating the robbery. There were no personal injuries to the people working at the office at the time of the assault.
