
Philadelphia welcomed 33-year old Al Horford honoring him with the ringing of the ceremonial replica of a symbolic Liberty Bell before the tip-off of the season opener game. Horford is now playing for the 76ers after three years with the Boston Celtics.
Horford scored 16 points in the game the Sixers won 107-93 over the Celtics before a sellout crowd at the Wells Fargo Center. Horford played 31 minutes and 11 seconds and totaled 16 points, three assists and two rebounds. He shot 5 of 13 including 1 of 6 from three-point range.
Horford signed a four-year $97 million deal that could reach $109 million with championship bonuses to play for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Latin music legend Juan Luis Guerra was present for the game, decked out in a Sixers uniform. He is the uncle of Horford’s wife, former Miss Universe Amelia Vega.
