Hacienda Minister Donald Guerrero justified a US$100 million loan request to expand the Santo Domingo Metro saying that the RD$20 fares do not allow for investing in the fast transport system. Metro fares have cost the same since the train began service in January 2009, 10 years ago. The Metro offers two lines and is fed by the Santo Domingo Skylift for the same fare.
