Construction begins at the Margaritaville Island Reserve in the Punta Cana area

President Medina was in Cap Cana on Tuesday, 29 October 2019 for the ground-breaking ceremony for the Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana. The family-friendly resort will have 228 rooms and suites and is due to open in 2021. It will feature three swimming pools, a spa, a Parakeet’s Kids Club, seven restaurants and three bars, including the signature 5”O’clock Somewhere bar.

Karisma announced the all-inclusive resort calls for a US$150 million investment. Karisma already owns the Nickelodeon and Sensatori hotels in northern Punta Cana. Karisma has other Margaritaville Island properties under construction in Cancun, Riviera Maya and Jamaica.

Present for the ground-breaking were also Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García, the CEO of Karisma Hotels & Resorts Rafael Felix Germán; John Cohlan, president of Margaritaville Holdings; and Abraham Hazoury, president of the board of Cap Cana. Karisma Hotels & Resorts Felix Germán is a Dominican-born and raised entrepreneur.
