Ambiorix Nepomuceno Rodríguez, accused of the murder of young lawyer Paola Languasco in 2015, arrived on Monday, 4 November 2019, extradited from Spain. The victim’s body was found on 24 April 2015 inside a water pipe in Los Jardines de Norte in Santiago. The family had last heard from her when she on 6 April 2015 left her home in Puerto Plata saying she would go to Santiago to meet with a man she had met via Facebook.
Nepomuceno Rodríguez fled to Spain where he was arrested, but then he escaped from jail in July 2016 while awaiting extradition to the Dominican Republic. In April 2017 he was captured in Hamburg, Germany and extradited to Spain. He had previously been arrested in Spain in 2009 for being part of a drug dealing gang, but having completed his sentence, he returned to the Dominican Republic.
