There are uncanny similarities in the case of Juana Dominga Salas, who was murdered by her partner who had been in jail for a previous aggression against her, but was let out by an irregular judicial agreement. According to her brother, Valentín Domínguez Salas, in 2018 Johan Rodríguez stabbed his sister. Still, she survived and made the complaint at the Domestic Violence Prosecutor Office in San Pedro de Macorís. The man was arrested and sent to preventive custody. Following the securing of an agreement with the prosecution of San Pedro de Macorís, he was released and this time, stabbed her and killed her.
The woman had four children, none from Johan, ages between 9 and 19 years.
In August this year, young lawyer Anibel Gonzalez was murdered also in San Pedro de Macoris by her ex-partner Yasmil Fernández Estévez, age 43, who had also been under arrest for domestic violence against her, and was released early by agreement with the judicial authorities.
