Diario Libre publishes today several key deadlines for the political parties that will be participating in the municipal election on 16 February 2020 and the congressional and presidential election on 17 May 2020.
The parties have before them finalizing the list of candidates, while taking into consideration that 40% of the political candidates need to be women and 20% need to be young people by voting district.
The important deadlines are:
Friday, 15 November 2019, is the date when the political parties need to register the list of all candidates selected in assemblies, conventions or other mechanisms chosen. Already the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) have presented their candidacies selected in the 6 October 2019 simultaneous primary.
18 November is also the deadline for submitting requests for alliances. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) will decide on these in an audition on 20 November and announce the authorizations by 23 November.
18 November is the date when the JCE will deliver to the political parties the database of eligible voters.
The political parties have until 20 November 2019 to present their income and expenditure budgets for the campaign.
The political parties have until 24 November to present their presidential and municipal government plans.
