
The police authorities in La Vega have identified the five people who died when two cars crashed on the Duarte Highway on the night of Sunday, 17 November. The victims are Gerónimo Antonio Sosa, Andy Lantigua Beato, Francisco Osvaldo de León Osoria, Odalis Ramos Mojica and Gariet Josua Frías Morales. The first three lived in Licey al Medio, Santiago, and San Víctor, Moca, and the last two in San Pedro de Macorís.
There were three people injured and the only one identified is Venezuelan Leicar Aymara Lebrette, who was taken to the Juan Bosch trauma hospital in La Vega.
According to the General Office of Ground Transport Safety (Digesett), the accident occurred near to the Incarna company on the Duarte Highway. Friends and relatives of Andy Lantigua Beato had just picked him up at Las Americas International Airport, where he had arrived from the United States, and were making their way to their home in San Victor, Moca. It was a head-on collision with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
