17-year old Yireh Fernanda from Santo Domingo Este in the Dominican Republic won the overall award at the Elite Model Look 2019. Fernanda is 5’10 and is part of the Ossygeno Models company.
The Elite Model Look is known as the world’s most prestigious international modeling contest that has discovered supermodels such as Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bundchen, Lara Stone, Alessandra Ambrosio and Stephanie Seymour.
Yireh Fernanda competed against thousands of candidates from 30 countries that see in the event a launching pad for their global modeling career. The contest was open to models ages 14 to 26 years old.
Yireh Fernanda won on Monday, 18 November, when participating in the 36th Elite Model Look World Final that was held at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Forty-nine model finalists and seven digital creative finalists took part in the world’s most prestigious contest scouting for the next generation of talent.
She is the first Dominican to win the prestigious contest. The model said it wasn’t easy. She said her flight to Paris had technical problems and she had to overnight in Canada and arrive two days late. She said the DR was the last country to make the 15 finalists. “When I heard the DR was the winner, I thought I was dreaming. When the press was all over me, I understood it was not a dream!” she observed.
