The Ecological Society (Soeci)) notes the high level of environmental contamination that now affects the Dominican Republic. Soeci points to the unfortunate actions and decisions that have led to the progressive deterioration of the air quality in the country.
The environmental group has proposals to solve the problem. The proposals require the commitment of government, civil society and business. One of the most obvious recommendations is the elimination of so many cars on the roads through the implementation of a serviceable public transportation system. Others are the reduction of conventional, petroleum-based energy, and the avoidance of the use of plastics. Soeci also calls for consumption of organic products, the avoidance of consuming processed foods and more implementation of the famous three Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
