Dominican Republic fifth highest for femicides in the region

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) says that in 2018, at least 3,529 women were victims of femicide in 25 countries in Latin America. The data was issued by the Observatory for Gender Equality in Latin America and the Caribbean (OIG) from ECLAC and revealed that he highest rates are in El Salvador with 6.8%, Honduras with 5.1% and Bolivia with 2.3% followed by Guatemala with 2%.

The Dominican Republic had 106 femicides in 2018, with a rate of 1.9% per 100,000 inhabitants, putting it in fifth place.
