The search continues for Cesar el Abusador

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) still has nothing to show in the hunt for César Emilio Peralta (César el Abusador). The media report that operations are held daily in cities in the Cibao region, with little success.

Different checkpoints have no been set up and searches are going on in Bayacanes, La Vega and the Jarabacoa-Constanza road. One of the benefits of the operation has been that crime in the area has decreased with the presence of the agents, and there have been several arrests unrelated to Cesar el Abusador, mainly for drugs and illegal firearms.

However, drivers of vehicles are complaining that the checkpoints delay them on their journeys.

Meanwhile, on Monday, 25 November 2019, the authorities reported the arrest of one of the six members of the Cesar el Abusador gang, with now five still at large.

Heriberto de la Cruz Pérez was arrested in Hato Mayor and was taken to the National District Prosecutor’s office to await his initial hearing.

He had been sought since 19 August 2019, when the other members of the gang were arrested.

There are now 17 people detained accused of being part of the gang, and three of them have been extradited to the United States.
