
Three people died following the crash of a light aircraft on Monday night, 2 December, in the community of Monserrate, municipality of Tamayo, in the southwestern province of Bahoruco. The pilot had not filed a flight plan. The aviation authorities say the flight was “irregular.”
The victims, who died of burns, have been identified as 69-year old Dominican citizen Arturo Cora, and 34-year old Venezuelan citizen Miguel Ángel Escobar Castillo. The third victim has not been identified.
Members of the National Police are on the scene as well as members of the civil protection organizations. The case is investigated by the Dominican Civil Aviation Aviation Institute (IDAC) Accidents and Incidents Investigation Commission (CIAA), the Police and other state security agencies.
