18-year old Miss Dominican Republic Clauvid Daly made it to the top 20 of the Miss Universe 2019 contest that took place on Sunday, 8 December 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia. Daly was Miss Punta Cana in the Dominican pageant.
The Dominicans to place the best in the Miss Universe contest are: Amelia Vega, winner in 2003; Ada Aimee de la Cruz, runner up in 2009; Renata Soñé, second runner up in 2005, Marianne Cruz, runner up in 2008, Yaritza Reyes made the Top 10 in 2013, and Clarissa Molina made the top 10 in 2015.
The Miss Universe crown this year went to Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi.
