A major fire destroyed the installation of Petro Fuel, a fuel storage and dispatching firm in Villa Aura, a mainly residential area in northwestern Santo Domingo on Friday, 6 December 2019. At least four persons were injured and two were taken to the Ney Arias Lora Burn Unit. These two that were seriously injured were identified as Petro Fuel employees Persio Encarnación and Key Felipe Paula.
Firemen from Santo Domingo West extinguished the fires impeding it from affecting property outside the company. The storage center and several vehicles and fuel storage tanks were practically totaled in the fire. There is no information yet on possible causes of the fire.
