Vinicio Castillo: Domingo Contreras manages billions of pesos in social programs; he must resign

The candidate for senator of the National District for the coalition Juntos Podemos (Together We Can), Vinicio Castillo Semán asked Domingo Contreras to resign from his position as director of the Special Programs of the Presidency of the Republic, DIGEPEPE. Contreras is running for mayor for the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD). Castillo pointed out that Contreras manages billions of pesos in government social welfare programs.

Castillo is running for senator for a coalition of parties that includes the People’s Force, the Progressive National Force (FNP), Democrat Institutional Block (BIS), Christian Democrat Quisqueyan Party (PQDC) and National Unity Party (PUN) among others.

“Our electoral coalition will warn observers, both national and international, accredited for the municipal election in February and the congressional and presidential election in May, of the use and abuse of public resources in the electoral campaign to benefit the official candidates. In case Domingo Contreras does not resign, we will raise a formal complaint seeking the intervention of the Central Electoral Board (JCE),” he said.
