There will be 1,927 relief posts located in strategic points nationwide. “A Pact for Life, Safe Christmas 2019” seeks to prevent traffic accidents and food and alcohol intoxication. Some 40,433 people are participating in the safe Christmas and New Year operations.

General Juan Manuel Mendez of the COE explained the Christmas safety operation is split in two. The first phase begins at 8 am on Monday, 23 December and ends at 6 pm on Wednesday, 25 December. The second phase will be from Monday, 30 December at 2pm to Wednesday, 1 January 2020 at 6 pm. Mendez said a statistical report would be presented after the completion of both phases.

For the Safe Christmas and New Year operations, additional ambulances, road patrols, road workshops and 13 helicopters will be patrolling the main highways.
