
The El Seibo farmers that protested being divested of 20,000 tareas (1 tarea = 629 square meters) were not received at the Presidential Palace by the commission entrusted with their case. Silvio Molina, spokesman for the Mamá Tingó Farmer Association of La Culebra, says they will meet among themselves during the holidays to decide the next actions to take.
The farmers have received the support of farmer groups from around the country. A commission from El Seibo had traveled to Santo Domingo for the meeting at the Presidential Palace, but returned empty-handed to El Seibo for the holidays.
