Evangelicals lash out against corrupt politicians and in favor of pro-life stands

Evangelical pastors for the 56-year old La Batalla de la Fe ministry urged their constituents to not vote for political candidates who could not explain the origin of their wealth and for those who promote anti-Christian values, during the annual religious mass concentration at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Stadium. El Dia reporters said the congregation filled the stadium, but attendance was less than in previous years.

“We Dominicans, who are more than 70% people of Christian principles, cannot give our vote to people who are known to have stolen from the state’s coffers and know it, not because a court has condemned them, because apparently there are no such courts here, but because they cannot explain their wealth,” said Pastor Ezequiel Molina Jr.

He urged Dominicans not to vote for the candidate, not necessarily the political party. “Do not allow yourselves to be deceived and used more, do not allow yourselves to be provoked. Those who pay the consequences will be the innocent,” he said.

Previously, Pastor Ezequiel Molina Rosario had invited the faithful to take a risk and participate in the polls. “The ministry is preparing to make a dignified representation in an atmosphere of traps and lies and to aspire to the Congress or to the municipalities,” he added. He called for institutions and politicians to respect the law.

“We Dominicans are peaceful and working people who yearn to live in a climate of peace, we are already adults in matters of democracy, we do not want chaos and disorder typical of semi-wild societies,” he said. He urged that dialogue, understanding and civilized awareness come first.

He recalled that the population distrusts politicians and “as a contribution from them to peace”, he asked them to stay out of the guilds of lawyers, doctors, professors and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) so that these can exercise their roles in society.
