Police confirm death of child reported missing in Santiago

The National Police reported today that the lifeless body of four-year old Yanesy Rodríguez, missing since Saturday, 4 January 2020, was found in the La Barranca sector of Las Charcas in Santiago. Authorities said the body was found in an improvised garbage dump some 400 meters from where the child lived. The girl was last seen alive when she was sent by her mother to the local grocery store at 10pm in the evening. The mother and two local teenagers were detained in the investigation.

The Police suspect the two teenagers, ages 14 and 16 years. One of the teenagers led the investigators to the body of the child. But a motive for the crime has not been determined. The body showed signs of a brutal beating. It was sent to the National Forensic Sciences Institute (Inacif) for an autopsy.
