
The Tokyo Volleyball Qualification Women Championship opens in Santo Domingo on Friday, 10 January 2020. The Tokyo Olympic Games are scheduled for 24 July to 9 August 2020. The qualifier will take place at the remodeled Palacio de los Deportes of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
The Dominican Republic seeks to win the available slot to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. It is competing against Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Coach Marcos Kwiek says it is the most important championship the team has played in the past four years. He says the team has trained intensely for the commitment.
The Dominican senior women’s team spent the first week of January training and playing matches in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Brazilian Super Liga teams.

Friday, 10 January:
Puerto Rico vs. Canada at 5pm
DR vs. Mexico at 8pm
Saturday, 11 January:
Puerto Rico vs. Mexico at 5pm
DR vs Canada at 7pm
Sunday, 12 January:
Canada vs. Mexico at 4pm
DR vs Puerto Rico at 6pm
The Dominican team members are Niverka Marte Frica, Camil Inmaculada Dominguez, Brenda Castillo, Larysmer Martinez Caro, Lisvel Eve Mejia, Bethania de la Cruz, Brayelin Martinez, Priscila Rivera Brens, Yonkaira Peña Isabel, Jinery Martinez, Candida Arias Perez, Annerys Vargas Valdez, Gaila Ceneida Gonzalez Lopez, Gina Altagracia Mambru Castilla.
The two nightly games will be broadcast on Channel 4 (CRTV) and on the Colimbo Channel of the Olympic Committee (Channel 25). The games will also be streamed on demand by NORCECA TV, Claro Sports
