
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has ruled that the only residence to be taken into account when aspiring to an elective position at the municipal level is that which appears on the identity and electoral card and in the Central Electoral Board (JCE) card system. The TSE referenced Article 139.3 of Electoral Regime Law 15-19.
Ruling TSE-027-2020 was issued to respond to an appeal filed by the Alliance for Democracy Party (APD) and Eugenio Dani Encarnación against a resolution issued by the Santo Domingo North electoral board on 12 December 2019 that determined inadmissible the candidacy of Encarnación for mayor for the district.
