
President Danilo Medina named Bolívar Israel Marte Núñez ambassador to Cuba. He replaces Joaquín Gerónimo, who had resigned to participate in the presidential campaign of former President Leonel Fernández. At the time of his appointment, Marte Núñez had served as governor of the province of La Vega. Previously he had been director general of the national land registry (Catastro Nacional).
President Danilo Medina also announced career judge Eunisis Vasquez will replace Victor Grimaldi as Dominican ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican). Grimaldi had 11 years in the position. At the time of her appointment, she was judge of the second hall of the Civil and Commercial Chamber of the Appeals Court of the National District.
President Danilo Medina also appointed Juan Carlos Guerra as vice minister for consular affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Relations. He replaces Marjorie Espinosa who was recently named Dominican ambassador in Argentina.
