Latin American experts visit to help prepare 16 February municipal election

Members of the Advance Mission of the Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE) will be visiting this Thursday, 16 January 2020, and Friday, 17 January, to help prepare the 16 February 2020 municipal elections in the Dominican Republic.

Uniore members will meet with officials of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), representatives of civil society and delegates from political parties, groups and movements, to learn about the organizational work and technical aspects of the municipal elections.

Mission members are Patricio Santamaría, president of the Electoral Service of Chile (SERVEL); Marco Antonio Baños, counselor of the National Electoral Institute of Mexico (INE); Hernán Penagos, president of the National Electoral Council of Colombia; and Yara Campos, alternate magistrate of the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, in coordination with Sofia Vincenzi, coordinator of the Costa Rica-based Center for Electoral Promotion and Assistance (CAPEL). CAPEL is a specialized program of the Inter-American Center for Human Rights (IDH).

Electoral bodies information technology experts coming are Fausto Von Streber, director of Information Technology of the Superior Tribunal of Electoral Justice of Paraguay; and Ricardo Saavedra, manager of Digital Certification of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status of Peru.
