Ministry of Public Works says that the construction of the East Interurban Bus Terminal continues because the requirements established by the Superior Administrative Court (TSA) were complied with. The Ministry of Public Works says that the ruling that had ordered the suspension of the construction conditioned this to the Ministry presented the required documents. The Ministry of Public Works published a paid advertisement in El Dia newspaper on 14 January 2020 to indicate that it has presented the environmental impact study, the “no objection” from the Ministry of Environment, and the Santo Domingo East municipality land use authorization.
The Ministry says that the terminal is part of the five interurban bus terminals under the Sustainable Urban Mobility Strategic Plan (PEMUS) 2017-2022.
The construction is objected because it cut a large slice out of the Mirador del Este national park.
