After a triple tie for second place in the Dominican Winter Professional Championship, two more games will decide which of three teams will match the Toros del Este in the playoffs.
The playoff teams for the 2019-2020 championship should have been decided on Wednesday, 15 January 2020, but the Leones del Escogido defeated the Tigres del Licey 4-3 in Santo Domingo and the Aguilas Cibaeñas won their game against the Toros del Este in Santiago. This lead to a triple tie. The Escogido, Licey and Aguilas each have won eight games and lost 10.
The Dominican Professional Baseball League (Lidom) announced two more games will be played. The Escogido will battle it out against the Aguilas at the Cibao Ball Park in Santiago at 7:30pm. The winner of this match will then compete against the Licey on Friday, 17 January at 7:15pm at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo. The winner then will compete in the 9-5 games playoffs against the Toros del Este.
