
President Danilo Medina inaugurated a 25 megawatt (MW) solar plant, Parque Solar Canoa, in Barahona, in the southwest of the country. The park is located in the Vicente Noble municipality. It will supply power to 30,000 households. The project is an investment of Emerald Star Energy and has a surface of 325,109 square meters. The new park will produce 60 gigawatt hours (GWH) per year. A second phase will be built adjacent to the present location.
