Luis Rojas named new manager of the Metros

Luis Rojas, the 38-year old Dominican-born son of legendary Felipe Rojas Alou, was named the next manager of the New York Mets. He is the quality control/outfield coach for the team. As reported the club is preparing a multiyear agreement. Rojas would be the team’s fourth manager in the past 2-1/2 years and third in four months.

Rojas has experience managing in the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball League. He is the sixth Dominican to be named to manage a MLB team. Others have been Felipe Rojas Alou (Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants), Tony Peña (Kansas City), Luis Pujols (Detroit Tigers), Juan Samuel (Detroit Tigers) and Manny Acta (Washington Nationals).
