
As part of the NUVI recycling initiative, “Nuvi Points” have been identified for the deposit of plastic bottles by the general public. The Nuvi initiative was launched last week by the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The purpose is to mitigate the contamination by plastics. Nuvi is described as the country’s ” largest private alliance that seeks to create a culture of reduction, reuse, recycling and use of waste.”
The program is sponsored by at least 27 organizations and private companies that seek to recover small plastic bottles and then convert them into raw material for new products.
So far the first Nuvi Points are available at:

The program stresses that by depositing the plastic bottles in these places, each Dominican will be able to be part of this initiative and contribute to transforming the problem of plastics into an opportunity.
