40.2% of the citizens eligible to vote in the 16 February 2020 municipal election would vote for either the candidates of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) or the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). Gallup-Hoy says the two leading political contenders are tied.
Analysts say the PRM would be the big winner because it would win many city governments now under PLD leadership. The PRM at present has only 46 city governments, while the ruling PLD has 106.
The Gallup-Hoy poll took place 16-21 January 2020 and 1,200 persons were polled. The poll has a +/- 2.8% margin.
