Civic Participation commits mayor candidates

The Citizen Participation (CP) civic movement and several candidates for mayor of the National District signed a pact on Wednesday in which the candidates commit to implement public policies that contribute to improving the lives of the people of the capital.

The candidates to mayor signed the “Pact for Municipal Democratic Governance,” on Wednesday, 30 January 2020. The candidates commit to direct their greatest efforts to raise the quality level of municipal management in planning, administration and control.

The agreement was signed by Heiromy Castro, general coordination of Citizen Participation and municipal candidates for the National District, San Juan de la Maguana, Azua, Baní, Santiago, Cienfuegos, Puerto Plata, San José de Ocoa, Santo Domingo East, Santo Domingo West, Boca Chica, San Francisco de Macorís, La Vega, Jarabacoa, Barahona, San Pedro de Macorís, Las Terrenas and Cotuí, among others.

A Civic Participation press release says the candidates agreed to develop good governance following the mandates of the Constitution and laws, as well as to promote the strengthening and creation of tools and municipal regulations that guarantee the participation of social organizations, women, men and youth in equal conditions in decision-making instances.
