Dominican Republic to compete in World Baseball Classic

The nine-game double elimination round begins 12 March 2020, when the top two teams from each pool will advance to the World Baseball Classic set for 2021. Participating in the March 2020 qualification rounds in March 2020, are Brazil, France, Germany, Nicaragua, Pakistan, South Africa. Also participating in qualification rounds are the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Panama, the Philippines, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The Dominican Republic is part of the 16 pre-qualified countries. These are Australia, Canada, China, Taiwan, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela. The countries received automatic invitations based on their performance in the 2017 tournament.
