
On Friday, 31 January 2020, Vice President Margarita Cedeño underwent surgery at the Center for Diagnosis, Advanced Medicine and Telemedicine (CEDIMAT) in Santo Domingo.
She is recovering successfully from laparoscopic appendectomy surgery due to acute appendicitis. Her surgeons were Dr. Luis Betances, Dr. Gustavo Rojas and Fernando Contreras. The physicians said there were no complications of any kind from the surgery at around 7 am on Friday and that
she should have a quick and satisfactory recovery. She was sent home to recover at her residence.
El Caribe reported she received the visit of President Danilo Medina and of former President Leonel Fernandez, her husband.
