
The Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic (ACRD) has issued a call to the population to protect the country’s wetlands (“humedales”) because of their immediate and non-replaceable role in the nation’s life.
In commemoration of the World Wetlands Day, the Academy of Science called for an iron-clad defense of the wetlands located in the National System of Protected Areas.
The Academy also called on President Danilo Medina to finally designate the Tavarez Justo National Park, which includes the watershed that feeds the Moncion Dam that is central to the water supply of the Northwest as well as its importance in agriculture of all types.
