In its 7th year, the Palabra y Vida and Body Shop foundations are sponsoring the Brazadas por Valores swimathon. The event brings together the swimming community in the Dominican Republic for a 24 hours swim. The event will start at 6 pm on Friday, 7 February and end at 6 pm on Saturday, 8 February.
The swimmers will gobble up meters in the pool to break the two national records that were set last year. These are one of shortest time to swim the million meters (9 hours 59 minutes 56 seconds) and that of the most meters swum in 24 hours (2,288,950 meters). This distance is what it would take to swim from Santo Domingo to Atlanta, USA.
The event takes place at the 25-meter rooftop swimming pool of the Body Shop Naco. . The competition is governed by the rules of the International Swimming Federation and is endorsed by the Dominican Swimming Federation.
