Airport staff at Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) are wearing gloves and masks to assist passengers entering the country. This is a preventive measure in these days of the coronavirus scare. Immigration inspectors receive the visitors with their masks when checking travel documents. Customs personnel are now wearing plastic gloves made of special plastic on both hands as well as masks to cover their mouths and noses.
The preventive measure applies to the personnel working in Customs at the airport in the operation of the X-ray machines, and for Migration inspectors operating, including those assisting with the Autogate system that allows for the quick check-in and check-out of passengers.
The Ministry of Public Health has placed portable thermometers at airports to be used to detect travelers with fever upon their entry into the country.
