He is being described as the Dominican Houdini. The fact is that Gilberto Ventura Ceballos escaped from a Panamanian jail on Monday, 3 February 2020 and is nowhere to be found.
The Panamanian authorities first offered US$30,000 for information leading to his capture, and then raised it to US$50,000. Ventura escaped the La Nueva Joya prison. He was serving a 55-year prison sentence. This was 50 years for murder and kidnapping of five people of Asian origin and five years for escaping from La Joyita prison on 28 December 2016.
