
The National District Electoral Board accepted the resignation of the candidates to mayor, deputy mayor and 37 city councilors for the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD). The decision was then submitted to the Central Electoral Board (JCE). After the candidate to mayor for the PRD, Hugo Beras, announced his resignation with just two weeks before election day, the party requested that all candidates to the capital city also present their resignations.
The JCE issued Resolution No. 14-20 on Wednesday, 5 February 2020 whereby it accepts the resignations presented by the National District Electoral Board from the automated voting system.
