Dominican students in Wuhan will be flown on Friday to Ukraine

Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas Maldonado said on Wednesday, 12 February 2020, that the five Dominican students who are in Wuhan, China, the city where the coronavirus (COVID-19) reportedly got its start, will be flown on Friday, 14 February to Ukraine in Eastern Europe. The Superior Education Minister Alejandrina German had said there are 21 Dominican university students on scholarship in China, and of those, five are in Wuhan, a quarantined city.

Vargas Maldonado told the press that the foreign minister of Ukraine had committed to reserve five seats on a scheduled flight out of Wuhan for the Dominican students in Wuhan. The flight will leave on Friday. He said the students would be isolated in Ukraine for two weeks following international protocols, and once they meet the medical requirements, they would then fly to the Dominican Republic. The students in Ukraine would be under the responsibility of the Ukraine government, he said.
