Public Health Minister Rafael Sánchez Cárdenas urges people take special care with hygiene practices to avoid catching the flu. The Ministry of Public Health has confirmed it has more than 125,571 reported cases of AH1N1, H3N2 and influenza B.
Sánchez Cárdenas said that the seasonal influenza should not be neglected. “Here in the Dominican Republic, you see people with flu everywhere, because we are in the flu season,” he explained.
Sánchez Cárdenas said that influenza is benign in the vast majority of cases but can be lethal in the elderly, children under five and those with weak immune systems.
